About decimal degree coordinates
Latitude measures how far north or south a place is from the equator (from -90 to 90), and longitude measures how far east or west it is from the prime meridian (from -180 to 180). Together they identify any point on Earth.
This tool returns coordinates in decimal degrees, the format used by Google Maps, GPS devices, spreadsheets and most mapping APIs. Positive latitude is north and negative is south; positive longitude is east and negative is west.
Looking for a specific direction? Use the Address to Coordinates tool to geocode an address, or the Coordinates to Address tool to reverse geocode a latitude and longitude.
